MISSION
The Haitian-American Historical Society (HAHS) is a nonprofit, Miami-based organization that was founded in 2001. HAHS is dedicated to fully investigating any past instances where Haitian contributions have been identified. The organization seeks to establish truth and accuracy in historical events pertaining to Haitians and those of Haitian decent.
HAHS believes it is imperative to share Haiti’s rich history. We further recognize our duty to educate and inform the public. HAHS is located in North Miami, FL, the city with the highest population of Haitians in the nation. We promote youth involvement in the community, and consider our headquarters to be a community center where members of the community, especially the youth, can come and be productive individuals, giving back to their community.
In addition, HAHS shares Haiti’s proud culture through art at the Haitian-American Historical Museum & Archives. Here, we showcase artifacts, paintings, photography, and performances.
